Both a software engineer and a meteorologist,  Paul has joined Weather Insight to further develop our sophisticated system of meteorological software.

Paul’s software experience includes many years of developing websites and web applications, using server-side programming methods based on the Perl and Tcl scripting languages.  He worked for BMC Software, developing cross-platform digital rights management utilities intended for use throughout the company’s open systems products. At Cimarron, Inc., he worked on a NASA project to develop software for the new Mission Control Center and later moved to a position helping to administer and improve computer security for the highly sensitive network where Mission Control software is developed. He has also served as software architect for two meteorological computing workstation products.

Paul has eight years of experience as an Air Force weather officer, serving in Colorado, Japan, Korea and Illinois, with additional reserve service while studying for the doctorate.

Paul earned a B.S. in physics at Kansas State University and a M.S.S.M. in management from the University of Southern California. He completed the Air Force basic meteorology program at the University of Oklahoma and earned the Ph.D. in meteorology at Texas A&M University, with a dissertation on the use of passive microwave remote sensing methods for estimating soil moisture.

Paul is a part-time member of the faculty of the University of Phoenix, where he teaches science and statistics.
